From the very first message we exchanged with George, and then during our phone call, we felt we were speaking to someone genuinely kind, compassionate and understanding. He listened to us, understand our cat Aipim’s situation and talk us through what to expect, which gave us a lot of reassurance at an incredibly difficult moment.

George was also very accommodating with the timeframe we needed, and we never felt rushed or pressured.

When he came to our home, he was calm, gentle, humane and incredibly respectful, both towards Aipim and towards us. He explained every step of the process clearly and made sure we understood what was happening throughout.

Most importantly, Aipim was treated with such gentleness, care and dignity. Being able to say goodbye to him at home, somewhere he felt safe and surrounded by the people who loved him, meant everything to us.

It is difficult to put into words how much kindness matters at a moment like this, but we genuinely could not have asked for a more compassionate person to help Aipim, and us, through his final moments.

We will always be grateful to George for the care, respect and kindness he showed our wonderful boy. ❤️

I honestly cannot recommend George at Serenity Vets highly enough.

When the time came to say goodbye to our 16-year-old Chihuahua, we knew we wanted her final moments to be at home, somewhere she felt safe and comfortable. She had always absolutely hated going to the vets, so being able to let her pass peacefully in her own home meant everything to us.

From the very beginning, George was incredibly responsive and compassionate. His quick replies gave us so much reassurance during what was an incredibly upsetting and difficult time.

When he came to our home, nothing felt rushed. He took his time, explained everything gently and made sure her send-off was as calm, peaceful and dignified as it possibly could be. Nothing was too much trouble, and throughout the whole experience I could tell that he was a genuinely kind and caring person who truly understood just how much she meant to our family.

Thanks to George, our little girl was able to spend her final moments in the place she loved, surrounded by the people who loved her, without the fear and stress that a trip to the vets would have caused her. I will always be grateful for that.

I would recommend George to absolutely anyone facing the heartbreaking decision to say goodbye to a much-loved pet.

George, from me and my whole family, thank you so much for the kindness, patience and compassion you showed our girl and all of us on one of the hardest days we have ever had. You made an incredibly painful moment as peaceful and gentle as it could possibly have been, and we will never forget that.

Our 19 year old British tabby, Barnaby, was experiencing end of life throes during Monday evening which we found very distressing. Having rung around the local vets noone was willing to come out and help us so we rang George at Serenity Vets and within an hour he was with us. He was reassuring, kind and compassionate and helped our dear Barnaby to pass away peacefully. We are so grateful to George for his kindness and calm professionalism in carrying out the last kind act we could do for our beloved little boy.

We had to make the heartbreaking decision to put our beloved 13 yr old dog Buddy to sleep recently. George came to the house so Buddy was calm and surrounded by his loved ones. George was so calm and respectful and ensured Buddy was pain free for the procedure. He took him away and we collected his ashes in a lovely box. I Would highly recommend him.

We recently had to make the heartbreaking decision to say goodbye to our beautiful boy, Pepper. As his condition deteriorated quickly, we needed someone who could come out at very short notice, and George was incredibly accommodating with both our timeline and location.

George was kind, compassionate, and reassuring throughout. He gently talked us through every step, gave us plenty of time to say goodbye, both before and afterwards, and handled everything with such care and dignity.

We are incredibly grateful to George for making an unbearably difficult experience as peaceful as possible. His compassion and professionalism meant so much to us, and we would wholeheartedly recommend his service to anyone facing this heartbreaking decision.

I cannot thank George enough for the incredible kindness and compassion he showed me during the most heartbreaking experience of my life. Losing my 22 year old baby girl was completely devastating, and George was an absolute comfort throughout the entire process.

From the very beginning, I had to change the dates and timings with him multiple times, and every single time he was so accommodating, patient, and understanding. When he arrived, he was incredibly kind, gentle, and compassionate. He gave me all the time I needed, never rushing me, and waited until I was completely ready. She went so peacefully, and the gentle way he cared for her meant the world to me.

When I reached out to say thank you to him afterwards, his response was simply thanking me for letting him take care of her. George is a truly lovely, special person who treats his work with the utmost dignity and respect. I would recommend him to absolutely anyone. Thank you, George, for taking such beautiful care of her and for being there for me.⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️🕊

I called George as I have a very reactive large male. I have been worried for a while as I didn’t want him to go fighting as he was so scared of the vets and had to wear a muzzle.

George was amazing. it couldn’t have gone any better. He was snoring after oral sedation in his favourite pate. He didn’t wake up or react. It was the most peaceful way and I’m so grateful to George.

We had to make the heartbreaking decision to have our 18 year old cat put to sleep. George was wonderful from the first message. Kind, professional and most of all caring.

George gave my daughter the time she needed to say goodbye to her life long buddy and also sorted out the most beautiful paw print as a momento.

    Cant recomment Serenity Vets enough.

George is there for you. Very kind. Very knowledgeable and empathetic. Don’t think you have to go through with euthanasia. He spent a lot of time checking my boy, looking, listening and balancing it. We decided to give my boy a chance and I was overjoyed he was with me next day, but he quickly went downhill. George came back quickly when I asked 3 days later. My other dogs were able to see him and accept. It’s very hard, but having a skilled caring and understanding person with you at home really helps after the rawness of it softens 🙏

About George

I firmly believe that pets are integral members of the family.

My name is George Circiuleanu, an independent veterinary surgeon registered in the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS number 7158948) and the founder of Serenity Vets home euthanasia service. I firmly believe that pets are integral members of the family. They deserve to spend their final moments with dignity, surrounded by their loved ones in the comfort of their own homes. In delivering end-of-life care, I prioritize treating the family as a cohesive unit, offering compassionate care that addresses the emotional needs of everyone involved. After qualifying as a vet in 2015, I have been serving as a GP vet in small animal practice across UK.

At Serenity Vets, we truly empathize with the heartache that comes with saying goodbye to a beloved family member when their quality of life has declined. We recognize how difficult this time can be, which is why we offer a compassionate option for in-home euthanasia. This allows your pet to remain in the comfort of their own home, surrounded by the familiar sights and smells they adore, as well as the warmth of their loving family. We believe that every moment matters, especially during such an emotional journey. With our in-home euthanasia service, your cherished companion can experience a peaceful farewell, wrapped in the love they’ve known throughout their life. Afterward, we are here to support you by assisting with arrangements for burial or cremation, easing some of the burden during this profound time of loss. Our heartfelt goal is to provide the care, understanding, and support you need, ensuring your beloved pet’s transition is filled with dignity and love. You are not alone in this; we are here for you every step of the way.

If you prefer not to bury your pet at home, we can arrange for one of our cremation partners to collect your pet or have our vet handle the transfer. Alternatively, you may choose to bring your pet directly to the crematorium.

Aftercare Services

We provide several aftercare services options to help you honor your beloved pet.

Private Cremation

Private cremation, with guaranteed single-chamber handling and the return of your pet’s ashes, is available through our crematorium partners across the UK.

George will review the available cremation options during the booking process based on the services in your area.

Shared Cremation

If you prefer not to have your pet’s ashes returned, we can arrange for group cremation (without ashes being returned). Prices vary depending on your location.

Home Burial for Your Pet

If you wish to bury your pet at home and have the means to do so, we will leave them in your care after they have passed. Please ensure you are aware of and follow local regulations for pet burial on your property.

FAQs

What is the cost of at-home pet euthanasia?

Home euthanasia services start at £180 and vary based on your pet’s weight, distance and the time or day of the visit.

The price covers the home visit, pre-euthanasia sedation, and the euthanasia procedure itself.

What payment methods are available?

Payment for my services is collected at the time of visit through bank transfer or cash.

What should I expect during an in-home pet euthanasia?

Pet euthanasia is a calm and peaceful process. George will ensure every step is taken to make your pet’s farewell as smooth and stress-free as possible. This includes offering sedation before the euthanasia and giving family and loved ones plenty of time with your pet at each stage of the process.

Choosing in-home euthanasia saves you and your pet the stress of traveling to a clinic, where they may have had negative experiences in the past, and allows you to say goodbye in the place they feel safest and most comfortable.

Please note that if your pet is severely weakened when he arrives, proceeding with euthanasia without administering sedation might be needed. This is because sedation may cause a significant drop in blood pressure, making it difficult to place an IV catheter. In this case, he may use alternative injection methods directly into your pet’s body, which can sometimes be preferable, especially once your pet is fully anesthetized. He will always discuss these options with you beforehand if they are necessary. Additionally, in rare cases where pets are very unstable, euthanasia may be achieved with just the first injection, and the second injection may not be required.

When is the right time to consider euthanizing my pet?

There are no strict rules for determining the right time to put your pet to sleep, and ultimately, the decision is yours as your pet’s guardian. However, the following points may help guide your decision:

  • Consider how much of their time your pet is enjoying. Are they no longer able to do the things they once loved?
  • Are they in constant pain or discomfort?
  • Are they experiencing ongoing nausea or other distressing symptoms?
  • Are they unable to eat or get up to go to the toilet?
  • Do you feel like you might be delaying the decision for your own sake rather than for theirs? This can be a challenging question to ask yourself, but ultimately, we only want what is best for them.

As vets, we often speak with families both before and after the euthanasia process, and in nearly all cases, families never regret making the decision too early. Unfortunately, the opposite is often true. We are fortunate to be able to offer euthanasia as a peaceful and compassionate end-of-life option. It ensures that your pet does not suffer unnecessarily and allows them to pass with the love and care they deserve.

To help assess your pet’s individual situation, the Quality of Life page may be useful.

What are your hours of operation?

Our services are typically available from 7 am to 11 pm, seven days a week. However, appointment times may vary depending on the availability of the vet. Emergency appointments may occasionally be available outside of these hours.

What happens after my pet is euthanized?

There are several aftercare options available for your pet. If you opt for burial at home and are able to do so, or if you prefer to handle the cremation arrangements yourself, George will leave your pet in your care. Otherwise, him or a cremation partner will transport your pet for cremation.

If your pet weighs over 20kg, please note that assistance may be required to move them to the vehicle. If you prefer not to assist with this, please let George know at the time of booking, and he can ensure additional help is available (please note extra charges may apply).

If you’d like your pet to be cremated and their ashes returned, there are numerous options to choose from through our cremation partners, whether you wish to scatter, bury, or keep them in a memorial vessel.

Alternatively there is the option of a communal cremation for your pet, where the ashes are not returned.

Compassionate at-home euthanasia for your cherished pet.
